Do you speak Americano?

In late 2018, celebrated chef Alex Sanchez was set to make a much anticipated leap to his own stand-alone restaurant in Mumbai. San Francisco-raised, Italy inspired and India-settled, chef Sanchez's culinary vision for Americano brings a casual-chic Californian approach to Italian food, in a cheeky-fun Mumbai vocabulary.

As a tribute to the art district the restaurant is based in, and the masterpieces that are Alex's plates, the logo takes the form of an artist's signature. Dozens of sheets of paper were filled with hand drawn letters to achieve the perfect 'accidental and spontaneous' character it needed. A system of logo versions keeps the identity flexible in use. The recognisable collection of letters are hot-embossed into menu covers, etched into custom-designed crockery, cut in brass on the restaurant facade and printed on packaging.
